GIVEAWAY!!! Enter to win 2 tickets to see the show on Thursday, January 17th 7:30pm at The National Theatre. Simply comment below to be entered. A winner will be randomly drawn and notified on January 5th. Good luck!!!
SCHOOL OF ROCK is a New York Times Critics’ Pick and “An inspiring jolt of energy, joy and mad skillz!” (Entertainment Weekly). Based on the hit film, this hilarious new musical follows Dewey Finn, a wannabe rock star posing as a substitute teacher who turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band. This high-octane smash features 14 new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber, all the original songs from the movie and musical theater’s first-ever kids rock band playing their instruments live on stage. Chicago Tribune raves, “SCHOOL OF ROCK offers us a chance to be kids again, only with more talent than we ever had.”

Jingle ARRGH the Way! at Encore Stage & Studio
One of my favorite things to do with my girls is to go to the theater and Encore Stage & Studio is definitely one of our favorites. They are different than most children’s theaters in the area because all the actors are children! My girls love watching other kids perform. I took both of my daughters (ages 5 & 7) to see Encore’s latest production, Jingle ARRGH the Way! on Sunday and we were all captivated and entertained throughout! It was the perfect way to kick off the holiday season!
Based on the story by Melinda Long, “How I Became a Pirate,” the story follows Captain Braid Beard and his crew as they sail to the North Pole in search of Christmas Treasure. A mysterious message left in the crow’s nest of their ship brings Captain Braid Beard and his pirate mates back to North Beach to seek out young Jeremy Jacob to help solve a riddle and find the Christmas treasure. Favorite characters, a rollicking story, great songs, and a trip to the North Pole to find “you know who,”makes Jingle ARRGH the Way! a wonderful holiday show for the whole family.
We loved that this show has lots of humor and such a great energy! It has fun and catchy songs that had us all singing and clapping along. It is recommended for ages 4 and up and is a great way to introduce your children to theater and celebrate the holidays! There are just 4 performances remaining this weekend on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday so make sure to get your tickets soon!
The show’s run-time is 1 – 1 /2 hours with a 15-minute intermission. Performances run Fridays- Sundays, Nov. 30–Dec. 9, 2018 at the Gunston Arts Center, Theater One 2700 S. Lang St. Arlington, VA. Tickets: $15 Adults, $12 Children, Students, Military and Seniors and are available online at www.encorestage.org or by calling the box office at 703-548-1154.
