Review: Monster Jam Triple Threat Series

This past weekend my family and I went to the Monster Jam Triple Threat Series show at the Capital One Arena in D.C. It was our first time going to a Monster Truck show, so I was a little hesitant at first but happy to report I was pleasantly surprised! It was so fun and full of energy! My husband especially enjoyed it. I guess it was about time we did something like this since we’ve dragged him around to Disney on Ice, circuses, and musicals for years now!

One thing I learned once we arrived is that you can’t bring a dslr camera inside the arena. So…unfortunately my husband got stuck with walking my camera back to the car. Good thing we drove and didn’t take Metro. And therefore, this post only contains iphone photos. But our seats were fantastic, so I was able to get some decent shots since we were so close and smack dab in the center.

After we got the girls their $15 cotton candy and $10 french fries we took our seats and the show began with all the trucks driving around. It was extremely loud when the drivers hit the gas! Make sure to bring ear protection. I ordered noise cancelling headsets for everyone in my family ahead of time on Amazon. They do sell them there if you forget to bring your own. We even brought our 4 month old, Teddy and he was fine with the ear protection. I was a bit worried about bringing him but he was absolutely mesmerized with the show. He even took a 15 minute nap during intermission!

Then the athletes each took a turn competing in four different competitions including speed, wheelies, donuts, and freestyle. I couldn’t believe some of the tricks they were doing. My girls were excited to see that two of the drivers were females!

The drivers competed not only in their Monster Trucks, but they also raced with ATVs and speedsters. It was fun watching the races and the crowd really got into them!

We will definitely go back to this show again! It was so entertaining and a great family activity. I think Teddy will especially love this in a couple years! If you missed the show in DC, you can catch it in Baltimore at the Royal Farms Arena February 16-18.
