Back to School Haircuts at Cartoon Cuts

I can’t believe summer is winding down and it’s almost back to school time! It feels like every summer goes faster and faster. Why is it that summer goes by so fast and winter seems to drag on forever?! We are trying to make the most of these last three weeks of summer while also getting organized and ready to start school again. My girls picked out new backpacks, we bought school supplies, and this past weekend we went to Cartoon Cuts for fresh haircuts.

We have been getting haircuts at the Congressional Plaza location in Rockville, MD for the past couple of years. Our experience has always been great so it just makes sense to go back to a place where my girls are comfortable. They actually get really excited to go….it’s pretty cute!

I love that we are greeted so warmly when we walk into the salon. I think that has a big impact on making the kids feel comfortable. This time my girls had their hair cut by Hatice and she was wonderful!

My oldest daughter, Clara decided she wanted to go first. Cartoon Cuts has this great hair washing station where the water comes out of Ellie the Elephants trunk! It makes it fun and not so scary for the kids.

Hatice was so friendly and chatted with Clara the entire time she was cutting her hair. She finished Clara’s cut with a blow dry and then put in a clip. And as you can tell, Clara was super excited about the final result!

Next up was Mae. This was the first time she let anyone other than me wash her hair! I could tell she felt very comfortable with Hatice and she ended up really enjoying this part!

Maewash (1 of 1)

Mae has really curly hair and I feel like it takes a skilled stylist to know how to cut it well. Hatice clearly knew what she was doing!

Cartoon Cuts always shows Peppa Pig on the TV screens in front of the chairs which is very helpful in getting the little ones to sit still.

Mae was also very happy with her haircut!

After a summer of spending many days at the pool, haircuts were definitely needed to get the dry and damaged ends off. We couldn’t have been happier with Hatice; she was so nice and did a great job! It feels good to check one more thing off our list before school starts!

We really had such a great experience at Cartoon Cuts in Rockville! I can’t recommend them enough! Another great thing about this location is that you can grab a treat at Starbucks or Baskin Robbins afterwards. Or get lunch or dinner at the kid-friendly restaurants nearby – Baja Fresh, Noodles & Company, and Lebanese Taverna (to name a few). Spring Haircuts at Cartoon Cuts + GIVEAWAY!

Spring is finally here! The days are getting brighter, the birds are chirping, and flowers are starting to bloom! I decided this week was the perfect time to take my girls into our favorite Cartoon Cuts for fresh spring haircuts. We always visit the location at Congressional Plaza in Rockville. My girls are comfortable there and the staff is so friendly. When we walked into the store we were immediately greeted by the woman at the front desk and the manager, Melissa. As my girls were playing with the toys in the waiting area, Melissa starting chatting with them and they quickly became excited for their turn to get their haircut. She had such a nice demeanor and a way of making my girls feel comfortable. If your little ones have haircut anxiety, you can rest assured that you are in good hands with Melissa and her staff at Cartoon Cuts!

Clara went first with getting her hair washed and loved how the trunk of Ellie the elephant was spraying her hair!

Clarahairwash3 (1 of 1)

My littlest, Mae was nervous about getting her hair washed. Melissa was so great with her, she didn’t pressure her and decided it would be best to just wet her hair with the spray bottle.

Clarahaircut2 (1 of 1)

As you can see, Clara was thrilled with her new haircut! At first she was hesitant to cut it because she liked the length but the ends had gotten dry after taking swimming lessons all winter. The fresh cut was definitely needed and she was happy that she still had the length to her hair after the trim. And Melissa did a cute little braid around the side that she loved!

Maehaircut1 (1 of 1)

Next up was Mae! She was blessed with a head full of curls but it definitely requires someone who knows how to cut curly hair. Melissa did an amazing job! She trimmed the ends and added some layers to make her curls really bounce!

Mae was very happy with the result!

The salon carries a lot of great products specially designed for kids hair. We bought the Knot Genie brush and the SoCozy detangler and I LOVE them! I’m not trying to sell these products or anything, just sharing what is working well for me on the hair brushing battle every morning!

(GIVEAWAY!) Cartoon Cuts has generously offered a free haircut to one of my readers! Simply comment on this blog post for a chance to win. I’ll draw a winner next Monday, April 3rd. Good luck!

Race for the Case: Back to School Philanthropy with Cartoon Cuts

The summer is flying by way too fast and as I looked at the calendar this morning, I realized school starts in just 5 weeks! School supply displays started popping up in stores a few weeks ago to remind us a little too early. Soon, I’ll be getting out my daughter’s supply lists and taking them shopping to pick things out but unfortunately not everyone is able to purchase items on their child’s supply list so easily.

In many homes across the country and around the globe, families struggle to get their children the supplies they need for school. Cartoon Cuts is working to change that with their Race to the Case on August 6, 2015 at Cartoon Cuts salons across the country.

Cartoon Cuts, has partnered with Pencils of Promise (PoP) to raise $25,000 to build a school in Guatemala. PoP is a for-purpose organization that builds schools in developing countries in addition to providing scholarships, teacher support, and water and health programs. Since its founding in 2008, PoP has built more than 200 schools.

On August 6, 20 pencil cases filled with pencils, combs, free haircut cards and other freebies will be hidden around each shopping center with a Cartoon Cuts salon. Clues will be given out via social media, and the winners will be announced on the company’s website. The pencil case winners will share their experience on social media using the #RaceForTheCase, and Cartoon Cuts will donate $1.00 for each social media post. In addition, during the busy back-to-school month of August, Cartoon Cuts customers will be able to purchase pencils for a suggested donation of $1.00 each – the proceeds of which will go toward building the new school.

Can’t make it to a Cartoon Cuts salon on August 6? Don’t have one in your area? You can also help the Race for the Case via social media. For each social media post using the hashtag #RaceForTheCase, Cartoon Cuts will donate $1 to PoP.
