Disney On Ice Presents Frozen – Review
Yesterday, I surprised my girls after school and told them we would be going to see Disney On Ice. It was so fun to see them get so excited, jumping up and down and screaming! They have been to a few different versions of Disney On Ice over the past several years but it has been a couple years since we last went. It made for a fun Valentine’s date night with my girls. And my husband was more than happy to order Chinese food and stay home with the baby!
We arrived at the Capital One Arena (formerly Verizon Center) early and attended the media party where we got to see Mickey. The girls munched on snowflake cookies, blue hot cocoa, and carrot sticks with Ranch dip – all in keeping with the Frozen theme. They were also thrilled to get their faces painted. Then it was time to grab a few more snacks and head down to our seats.
The show opens with Goofy, Mickey, and Minnie skating onto the ice, followed by several princesses including Ariel, Cinderella, and Snow White. A few more Disney characters from Finding Nemo/Dory and Toy Story come out and they all perform during the opening song.
Then the show proceeds into the Frozen story and pretty much follows the movie itself. The production, set, costumes, and special effects are all top notch per usual with Disney. It’s such an entertaining show and completely engages the little ones.
If your kids are Disney fans, they will absolutely love the show. And if they are Frozen fans, they will love this even more! Tickets are very affordable and it’s definitely worth it! Just be forewarned that the concessions are steep ($15 for cotton candy and $12 for popcorn). There are also merchandise stands everywhere and your kids will want to buy all the things! I thought ahead this year and dug through the playroom and found several of the spinning light-up toys from previous shows and brought them along.
There are still lots of shows remaining throughout the long holiday weekend:
- Thursday, February 15th 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, February 16th 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, February 17th 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
- Sunday, February 18th 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
- Monday, February 19th 12:30 p.m.

Disney On Ice Presents Follow Your Heart – Review
My family and I had a great time at Disney On Ice on Wednesday night at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, Virginia. I had been looking forward to it for quite a while but I didn’t tell my girls until the day before. Otherwise they would constantly be asking “Are we going to Disney On Ice today?!”. Everything Disney does is great, so I knew I would enjoy the show but watching the joy on my girls faces is what I love the most. We’ve been to a few different Disney On Ice shows and Follow Your Heart definitely did not disappoint!
Meeting Mickey and Minnie before the show was a huge bonus! Mae is still talking about it!
The show opens with Riley from Inside Out, her hokey teammates, and a cheer squad in a fun musical number.
A Beauty and the Beast act follows and this was very entertaining! I love how Disney finds new ways to retell the Classic stories.
Follow Your Heart has a couple of aerial performances that are really unique. When I asked my oldest daughter Clara what her favorite parts were she said it was the aerial acts. The first one is The Little Mermaid doing acrobatics while dangling on a rope from the ceiling. And the second is Rapunzel and Flynn Rider flying through the air on yellow silks that represent her long locks.
Halfway through the show, the production takes a brief intermission (15-20 minutes). It’s a great time to grab a snack or the kids can have their picture taken with various backdrops in the concourse. The second half opens with the summer’s hit “Finding Dory”.
Finally, the last half hour of the show is dedicated to Frozen. My three year old Mae was waiting all night for this! Even if you are sick of Frozen by now, you’ll appreciate the beauty of this act. The snow falling, costumes, choreography, and set is all incredible!
All the other Disney princesses make an appearance in the show as well as other favorite characters from Toy Story. It is an overall fantastic show!
Tickets are still available for the remaining performances at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA.
- Friday, October 21st @ 10:30 a.m., and 7:30 p.m.
- Saturday, October 22nd @ 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
- Sunday, October 23rd @ 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m.
You can also catch the show in Baltimore October 27th – 30th.
